Rockwell Collins qualifies Blue Sky Network for Airshow 4000 data connectivity
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 29, 2005) - Rockwell Collins has issued a Service Information Letter certifying that Blue Sky Network’s Iridium Satellite phone system
is a qualified data channel for its Airshow 4000 moving map and inflight information system. The Blue Sky Network system is
also certified for the current fleet of Airshow Network (Genesys) customers.
The Blue Sky Network’s C-1000A Iridium Satellite phone system enables the delivery of customized news, financial, sports and
weather data from Rockwell Collins Member Service Center (MSC) to the aircraft. The MSC operates a highly available computing
infrastructure with full redundancy to provide a portfolio of content feeds, including BBC, CNN, The Wall Street Journal,
Bloomberg, SportsTicker, and Intellicast Weather. The center’s dedicated support staff is available 24 hours a day, seven
days a week to ensure customer needs are addressed expeditiously.
“The addition of Blue Sky Network to our list of certified phone systems has enhanced our position as a market leader,” said
Tim Rayl, senior director, Airshow Systems for Rockwell Collins. “This offering demonstrates our ongoing effort to provide
business jet owners more choice and flexibility.”
“Blue Sky Network is proud to have our name linked with Rockwell Collins Airshow,” said Jon Gilbert, President and CEO of
Blue Sky Network. “Our aviation SATCOM reliability and quality has once again been validated with a premier provider of content
material over a data network. We look forward to enhancing and expanding our Airshow relationship.”
Rockwell Collins Airshow 4000 delivers a rich, multimedia experience to the aircraft’s cabin and flight deck monitors. Data
from the aircraft’s long-range navigation and air data systems is processed by the system and the appropriate maps and flight
information, as well as real-time news, stock information, sports and weather, are displayed during flight. The unit is easily
customized and applications can be individually tailored to meet the needs of customers and has the capability to include
customer-specific map information.
The Airshow 4000 system has been installed on a number of leading business jets including the Gulfstream 200, Gulfstream V
and Gulfstream 550; Challenger 601, Challenger 604, Challenger 300 and Global Express; Falcon 20, Falcon 900EX and Falcon
2000EX; Hawker 800XP and Hawker 700; Cessna Citation VII; Boeing Business Jet and 747SP; and Airbus A319 and A320. The Airshow
