Rockwell Collins offers FMS-customers database unit upgrade
ORLANDO (November 08, 2005) - Rockwell Collins Flight Management System (FMS) customers will soon have the opportunity to update their database loading
units (DBU) to the DBU-5000, which provides faster, more efficient data loads.
DBU-5000, which will replace Rockwell Collins DBU-4000/4100, enables customers to load all equipment and database types into
the FMS using a USB drive. Its menu system enables multiple units and multiple databases to be loaded simultaneously. In
the case of aircraft equipped with dual-FMS, this means that data load times can be reduced up to 50 percent over previous
systems which required diskettes for each database load.
The DBU-5000, is designed and manufactured for Rockwell Collins by Gables Engineering, Inc. in Coral Gables, Fla, and will
be available in late 2006.
